The New Balance 550 has become the timeless silhouette of New Balance. First released in 1989, it didn't make much of an impression at the time of its debut and quickly fell into oblivion until a meteoric return in 2021. Indeed, Joe Grondin, manager of
New Balance collaborations, and Teddy Santis, founder of Aimé Leon Dore, rediscovered the shoe and proposed a new retro and trendy silhouette. From then on, her destiny was reversed and she became a huge success. After announcing a new collaboration that includes the
Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550 "Brown" and the
Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550 "Burgundy", the Boston-based brand is now teaming up with the
Size? shop for a complete pack of three compositions and presents the
Size? x New Balance 550 "Sand", the
Size? x New Balance 550 "Grey Blue" and the
Size? x New Balance 550 "Light Brown". The first version is composed of neutral tones and features a brown cordura mesh upper with a lighter mesh overlay at the toebox and tongue. To contrast these neutral tones, a touch of fir green is added to the collar, the traditional "N" branding on the quarter panel and the tongue branding. The tongue also features an elegant "550" lettering and ribbed laces that complete the many impeccable finishing details. Finally, to refine this sober and natural model, the logo of the British label comes to decorate the insoles and an imposing black sole finishes this silhouette which already seems to be a must-have.
