Phil Jackson, the “Zen Master” and one of the greatest coaches in all of American sports, has called it quits. The man who helped lead Michael Jordan to triumph and six championships as a Chicago Bull made it known on Wednesday, May 11th that he had no plans to return as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. All of this comes after he came back to coach despite health concerns and the Lakers’ stunning defeat at the hand of the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. The 4-0 defeat was the first time in Phil Jackson’s career that a team he Red was swept in a playoff series, but as coach of the Lakers, Jackson guided them to five championships from 2000-2002 and again from 2009-10.
