26 years ago today, the NBA All-Star weekend was held in Chicago, Illinois and Michael Jordan was coming off his first Slam Dunk Contest win from the previous year, but rival Dominique Wilkins would have something to say about that with plans of coming into Mike’s home city and stealing the crown. What resulted was one of the most spectacular dunk showcases and has become a classic ever since. Later that weekend, Mike would debut the Air Jordan III “Black/Cement” scheme in the actual All-Star game where he put up 40 points in only 29 minutes of play en route to the game’s MVP honor. Last year, Jordan Brand celebrated the 25th anniversary of the occasion by dropping the Air Jordan 1 Low White Black-Mystic Green 553558-113 Retro 88 at exactly 4:51 EST – the exact time that MJ secured his win by soaring from the foul-line (the clock reads 3:51 Central Standard Time). Stick with us after the click to watch highlights from the historic Dunk Contest between Michael Jordan and Dominique Wilkins and let us know what your favorite MJ All-Star moment was in the contest section.
