The Brooklyn Nets are technically still in the playoff race (currently 11th in the East) but their fortunes are fading with a 4-6 record in their last 10 games, and Boston and Charlotte scrapping out in front. In fact, the Celtics came into Brooklyn on Monday and grabbed a 110-91 win, pushing the Nets further down while nestling into the 8th seed themselves.
That about sums the 2014-15 Nets season – fighting every game, losing most of them, still trying to figure out how in three short years excitement and title talk has turned into a roster bereft of talent and an owner trying to flip the franchise to someone with fresh optimism.
In all of this mess Joe Johnson has also struggled, trying to do the one thing he was good at – score – while finding even that skill is seesawing in the midst of a bleak situation. His scoring scraps is down to 14.8, his lowest since his 2002-03 scraps of 9.8 in Phoenix. Still he soldiers on, remaining proud on the court, dressing the part of an elite scorer by opting for Jordan Brand’s highest profile signature sneakers.
Last night’s game saw Joe in two of them. For the first half, it was the Jordan College Celebration Long Sleeve UNC T-Shirt “Concrete Island” modified with black laces instead of fuchsia, and cut-off heel pull tabs. He played the second half in black Kids Air Jordan 1 All Stars, finishing with a total of six points on 3-11 shooting, with three rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Monday also saw Jimmy Butler return to the Bulls lineup after missing the last 11 games with an elbow sprain. Check out Joe’s kicks and the rest of the highlights in Jordans Daily…
