Joe Johnson in East PE Jordan XX3 Tinker Hatfield that hasn’t already been recorded, catalogued and bronzed?
Well, first off, you can say something new today – it’s his birthday and he clocked over to 63 years young. (Happy Birthday, TH.) But it’s a good day to take a few minutes to appreciate some of the grand accomplishments he’s notched over his fruitful life, many of which have directly improved the lives of millions of people worldwide, even if it’s been the simple satisfaction of lacing up one of the sneakers he designed.
What about those accomplishments? Let’s see – All-American in track and field as well as all-state in basketball and football in high school. Ran track for legendary University of Oregon coach Bill Bowerman. Transferred his talents as an architect to footwear over 30 years ago. Invented the cross-training shoe category. Designed a few nice sneakers like Air Max 1, Air Trainer 1, Air Revolution, Air Tech Challenge II and III, Air Raid, Air Flight Huarache, Air Mag (Jordan 1 Mid Alt Banned 2020 PS), jordan 1 mid bred toe resale through XV, seeded Air Jordan XVI, did Footwear NIKE Jordan Max 200 White Midnight Navy, XX3, 2010, 2011, 2012, XX8, XX9, Melo M10, Air Max2 CB ’94, Air Zoom Generation, Zoom Vapor 9 Tour, Flyknit HTM.
That’s just off the top.
Pretty accomplished guy, with enough résumé gold that he could’ve kicked back and relaxed 15, 20 years ago. Instead, he’s kept dreaming and innovating, leading Nike into the 21st century poised to trump its own stratospheric success in perpetuity.
But we’ll leave those surprises in the future. Today is birthday 63. And, as the title states, we’re going to salute with 9 of TH’s finest Air Jordan designs. It would’ve been nice to do his 63 Jumpman Air Jordans but he’s not quite there yet. Six plus three will do just fine.
Enjoy the look and let us know which picks you’d swap in and out.
