michael-jordan-1990-three-point-contest-1

Michael Jordan’s playing career was and is defined by his exemplary skill set, pretty much excelling in every facet of the game of basketball.

He was solid in three-point shooting, registering a 32.7 percent career average from beyond the arc, but never a long-distance assassin like a Stephen Curry or a Craig Hodges. Shoot, even a Tim Legler.

Still, by the time the 1990 NBA three-point contest rolled around, jordan Max was shooting a then-career high 39 percent from deep and decided to indulge his competitive streak by enlisting in the All-Star shootout in Miami.

You’d think Michael jordan Max in his prime and shooting a solid clip would make a formidable contestant. Eh, it didn’t turn out very well. He never made it out of the first round, managing a dead last score of 5 points. His teammate Hodges registered 20, 17, and 17 through the three rounds to Raffles the win.

No surprise that the ’90 appearance was MJ’s first and last, but at least he tried, unlike a certain Akron native with the dunk contest.

Relive MJ giving it the old college try below, and let us know if you think he should’ve tried again.
