If you listen closely you can hear this Michael Holiday jordan t-shirt scream – “1990s!”
Before Magic Johnson owned Pepsi bottling plants, Starbucks franchises, a chain of self-branded movie theaters and part of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Lakers legend oversaw an apparel company named Magic Johnson T’s. Don’t feel guilty if you’ve never heard of the label. It silently faded in with the booming early ’90s sports apparel business alongside Salem Sportswear and Nutmeg Mills, but produced arguably the best designs of the bunch. This MJ tee is the perfect example of the successful formula – oversize graphics, one6one7 and complementary colors, and the must-have official NBA licensed logos. Magic Johnson T’s created a series of these around the era’s top athletes, with tees, sweatshirts, sweatpants and more bearing the designs.
You can still find solid condition examples today – just head over to eBay.
