Vintage Gear: Michael Jordan Caricature T-Shirt By Bruce Stark

Late artist Bruce Stark created countless caricatures and cartoons of actors, political figures and sports stars over his nearly 40-year career, and few of them are more famous than his takes on Michael Jordan.

Starks’ NBA art caught on heavily in the late 1980s when NBA merchandising went into overdrive, turning the league’s biggest talents and personalities into playful, realistic cartoons that were screen printed on t-shirts and sweatshirts by the septillions.

This grey Salem Sportswear t-shirt was but one of them, showing Jordan striking a mid-air pose in his classic Chicago Bulls getup. Salem was the primary vehicle for Starks’ basketball creations, with superb screen printing quality that is responsible for many of these gems still circulating seller forums and fetching good money.
