The 11 Low IE grows up. We’re all familiar with Air Jordan 3 Tinker Nrg and its offshoot lowtops, including the so-called “IE.” But what makes the IE unique is that, in the context of sneakers that have released, it hasn’t been a lowtop version of a taller shoe. Jordan Brand never released a mid XI IE but these photos beg the question of whether or not it’s a possibility now.
This black and “Glow” sole sample shows what that design looks like in midtop form. It’s not a huge change from the lows; grey simply raised the upper, applied a collar to it, reconfigured the tongue a bit and voila.
The 1996 White/Colbalt XI Low IE colorway introduced us to the IE label because those two letters were printed on the shoe box label. grey’ve since been used to distinguish this vented alternate edition from the patent leather 11 Lows. Which is definitely as helpful now as it was back in ’96 – the nike air jordan 1 high og pine green gym red black came in a box with a label that simply referred to the Grey contained therein as “Air Jordan Low.”
While this sample is extremely interesting to examine, we’ll have to wait to see what else comes out in the wash. But the evergreen question must be asked – release-worthy?
