Designed as part of the second collaborative project between Boston’s New Balance and Chicago-born designer Joe Freshgoods, the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance x Salehe Bembury Yurt Beachv3 Outside Clothes is an earthy adaptation of the classic silhouette. A fresh take on the ‘80s-designed shoe, the 990v3 was first debuted in 2021, with perforated uppers, mesh panels and faux suede elevating the upper. Adhering to that same design update, the Joe Freshgoods version takes the design even further with ‘Outside Clothes’ stitching and a logo-emblazoned tag swinging from the laces. Underfoot, the shoe’s original 1989 running technology remains unchanged, giving the wearer that same comfort and performance, and the New Balance ’N’ on the side of the shoe also nods to its nostalgic roots.
