VINCE STAPLES – "RAMONA PARK BROKE MY HEART"
With his fifth full-length studio album, Vince Staples takes a personal and reflective approach to hip-hop. Throughout the 16-track project, the Long Beach rapper shines a light on his complex upbringing in his home neighbourhood, Ramona Park, delivering his usual sharp, hard-hitting lyrics against an array of uplifting beats.
FLOATING POINTS – "GRAMMAR"
Floating Points continues to emphasise dancefloor-focused production with “Grammar”, following on from “Vocoder” that released last month. The song opens with pulsing drums that’re soon joined by a myriad of layers, ranging from choppy, uplifting vocal samples to acidic squelches.
YUNG LEAN – "STARDUST"
Following on from his 2020 studio album “Starz”, Yung Lean releases his latest mixtape, “Stardust”. The project represents a continuation of the artist’s leftfield approach to music, combining hazy and serene instrumentals with experimental vocals.
DJ STINGRAY 313 – "F.T.N.W.O"
To mark the 10th anniversary of his debut album, "F.T.N.W.O.", DJ Stingray 313 gives the seminal project a re-release under his revived Micron Audio label. The 11-track project serves as an exploration into the world of Detroit electrofuturism, with eerie samples, skittering drum patterns and ominous pads fused together.
REAL BAD MAN – "ON HIGH ALERT VOL. 4"
With the 4th installation of the “On High Alert” series, Real Bad Man deliver that gritty, old-school hip-hop we’ve come to expect from the LA-based crew. The 8-track project combines classic beats with verses from an array of hip-hop’s finest, with appearances from Boldy James, The Alchemist and Meyhem Lauren, to name a few.
