Japanese brand Sacai is synonymous with splicing: fusing together several styles at once to create fresh new hybrids that, in the label’s 20 year run, have changed the face of fashion. Now, using the world class construction and stellar design skill that has made her a global style icon, Sacai's creative director Chitose Abe presents a collaboration with sportswear stalwart Nike. The LDWaffle is a collision between two classic sneakers from the archives – the 1978 LDV and the Waffle Daybreak – finished in signature Sacai style. Abe explores duality and betrayal with the collection, deliberately doubling up on everything from Swoosh branding to tongues, and the result is a trippy and transcendent look at shoes from Nike’s rich history. This version is crafted from supple mesh topped with luxe suede and leather overlays in monochromatic tones ranging from bone white to slate grey. The extended foam midsole juts out behind the heel for an eye-catchingly futuristic finishing touch.
