CultureMONCLER STUDIO ASCENTI EVENT ROUND UP
4 August 2022Moncler invited UrlfreezeShops to Milan to attend Studio Ascenti: an experiential event centred around the label’s all-new Trailgrip GTX shoe.
To celebrate the upcoming release of the Moncler Trailgrip GTX, UrlfreezeShops flew out to Milan to visit Moncler’s Studio Ascenti: an experiential event that introduced and explored new areas of design innovation.
The event was broken down into five experiential areas, all of which encompassed Moncler’s cutting-edge vision and meticulous sensibility. The lounge area welcomed attendees to the event and allowed them to receive pairs of the Trailgrip GTX, as well as experience furniture inspired by expedition elements and a large, moving wind installation. Following this, guests were invited for a briefing of the experience in the Boulder room: a space filled with ambient natural sounds, a large boulder and a soft, sunrise-like glow emanating from a Moncler logo. Afterwards, attendees moved into Basecamp, whereby the rigorous design process underpinning the shoe was broken down into its material components.
The all-new Trailgrip GTX was created with a vision — one that channels Moncler’s ability to seamlessly blend elevated design cues and all-out utility. The result is a shoe purpose built for unforgiving landscapes, with the fourth room, Terrain, delving into that. The space included natural surfaces inspired by rocky, mountainous terrain, allowing wearers to test the Trailgrip GTX in its natural habitat. The room also included three product specialists, with Nathan Vanhook from Moncler, Valeria Tobia from Vibram and Martin Herzele from GORE-TEX speaking on the technicalities of the low-top hiker. The shoe is constructed with super-durable components geared for harsh elements, with a waterproof GORE-TEX upper, Tech Tough rubber reinforcements and a Vibram MEGAGRIP sole.
The final room, called Peak, was designed to create the feeling of being surrounded by an artful representation of the great outdoors, with a hilly landscape made up of grass, plants and greenery. Within this room were performances delivered by poet and multi-disciplinary artist, Julian Knox, and performance artist and musician, Kelsey Lu, touching upon heritage, storytelling and meditative practices. Following this, invitees then regathered in the lounge area, with Pierce Abernathy — chef, forager and content creator — providing locally-sourced food and drink inspired by the vast Italian landscape.
