SACAI SS22 CELEBRATES TECHNICAL INNOVATION

If there had to be one word to summarise Chitose Abe’s Sacai, it would be technical. Since founding the label in 1999, the designer has relentlessly pursued experimentation, pioneering hybrid construction techniques and championing the avant-garde in contemporary fashion.

Each Sacai collection acts as a continuation of Chitose Abe’s desire to push the boundaries, with SS22 being no exception to that. The designer brings Errolson Hugh’s ACRONYM on board — a partnership that seems natural, given their shared love of technical innovation — with both partners’ design languages seamlessly combined.

The collection channels Chitose Abe’s love of bonding things together that are different — opposing, even — creating new and experimental hybrids. The approach taken is expansive, with everything from tailoring to knitwear spliced with contrasting materials, patterns and details. The outerwear is where ACRONYM's influence is abundantly clear — garments are cut from performance materials and covered in utilitarian details, as well as possessing that technical and futuristic aesthetic synonymous with Errolson Hugh.
