Shining a light on some of the hottest new music to drop over the course of the past week, UrlfreezeShops select their top five musical moments for your listening pleasure.

LOYLE CARNER - "HUGO"

With his third album, “Hugo”, South London-based Loyle Carner demonstrates his most reflective and introspective storytelling to date. Throughout the ten-track project, Carner delivers his usual witty, tightly-constructed lyricism, delving into personal subjects like upbringing, identity and relationships.

BURIAL - “STREETLANDS”

Burial follows on from “Antidawn” with his second project of the year, “Streetlands”, with the elusive artist taking the same stripped-back approach to production. The three-track EP is a reflection of Burial’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of his sound, eschewing the off-kilter beats of old for something that’s eerie, yet also serene, and bereft of any drum patterning.

ARMANI CAESAR - "THE LIZ 2"

Following on from 2020’s “The Liz”, Griselda’s Armani Caesar returns with the project’s sequel, “The Liz 2”. The expansive, 17-track album is a deft display of the Buffalo rapper’s effortless flow, combined with daring production showcasing a fusion of funk, soul and jazz.

LORD APEX - "JOGA BONITO"

Lord Apex partners with El Lif Beatz with “Joga Bonito”, paying tribute to the style of football which inspired the project’s name. The ten-track album represents a combination of laidback, jazz-inflected instrumentals and Lord Apex’s buttery-smooth lyricism.

MALIBU - "SO FAR OUT OF LOVE"

Malibu announces her long-awaited EP, “Palace of Pity”, by releasing the project’s lead single: “So Far Out of Love”. The track showcases the ethereal sound that has long been at the core of Malibu’s work, combining luscious, atmospheric pads and celestial vocals.
