The Nike Dunk Low “Ultraman” released in 1999 when the Nike Dunk, which originally debuted in 1985, was re-introduced in 1998. The Ultraman Dunk Low, named after the Japanese sci-fi-action hero of the 60’s, was a co.jp release (Japan only) and part of the “City Attack” series which included four simple colourways of the Nike Dunk. Since the original release, the Ultraman Dunk colourway was resurrected in different forms, like one that featured a darker grey and red and a white swoosh and a Dunk High SB in the reverse colourway, one that also released in 1999 and was named the Ultraman as well. Both pairs of the 1999 Nike Dunk Low Ultraman are very rare but the primarily gray version is more commonly west to as the “Ultraman”.
The Nike Dunks of the late 90’s are signified by a nylon tongue, which is not seen in Dunk releases of the last few years, and it wasn’t until the early 2000s when the Nike Dunk started to switch steam as the “it” shoe for sneakerheads. Over the last decade, the Nike Dunk slowly established itself as the standard shoe for urban footwear, with an immutable number of colourways releasing every passing year. Other shoe designs have caught up to the Nike Dunk since then, but the Ultraman Nike Dunk Low remains a precious gem for some of the older sneakerheads. A brand new pair of the Ultraman Dunk Low has a current value of $250-300, a price-tag justified by the rarity and transcendent colourway. Thanks Bridge Footwear
