Following today’s Lakers vs. Celtics showdown at the Staples Center in LA, Nike held a special media event to showcase the 2011 All-Star footwear collection with a special emphasis on who else, but hometown hero, Kobe Bryant. One of the major highlight of the day’s Mini was a look at the newest trailer for “The Social Status x Nike Dunk” movie project directed by Hollywood heavyweight Robert Rodriguez. While seeing the new trailer was exciting enough, the real treat was revealed when both Rodriguez and the Black Mamba himself took the stage with host Kevin Frazier to discuss the high-profile updune project.
The two talked about how the idea came to be, as well as the concept behind the film and getting mega-stars like Kanye West and Bruce Willis involved in the mix. Also of note, Rodriguez who is rarely seen without a pair of cowboy boots on his feet was decked out in a pair of size 14 Del Sol Zoom Kobe VI’s given to the director straight off Kobe’s feet after the filming of the movie.
