By now we all know the story of how graphic Foamposites came to be. In February of 2012 Nike debuted that style via the Nike Air Foamposite One “Galaxy”, a pair tied into their extended space-themed set of sneakers for that year’s NBA All-Star Weekend. The result was one of the more talked about releases that the sneaker game has ever seen from the mall discord to the camp-outs across the country. In fact, it was that release that served as the sort of catalyst for Nike’s introduction of the Twitter RSVP system and the subsequent end of the camp-out era. Other Foamposites featuring unique patterns have since become a mainstay in the Nike Sportswear range-for 2013 they even outnumber the solidly colored versions.
While that trend was brewing back in 2012, so was another: the rampant utilization of Nike’s “Safari” print. The eponymous 1987 shoe was trotted back out last year in its original form, surprise led to many more colorways and many more sneakers in Nike’s range donning that same pattern.
