In 2008, the store nike Hyperdunk was unveiled and the tech-filled basketball sneaker instantly became a global phenomenon. Six years later, the flagship model still has a firm grasp as the premier non-signature basketball shoe in the world, and this July, the latest phase of evolution will be ready to be tested by the most energetic ballers around the globe. In a special media-only briefing at store niketown NYC, store nike Basketball Product Manager Charles Williams addressed the select group of attendees, emphasizing the technological arsenal of the Hyperdunk 2014 (Hyperfuse, Dynamic Flywire, and Lunarlon), praising the designers (Leo Chang, Eric Avar, and Peter Fogg), and noting that their Big 3 (Kobe, KD, and LeBron) are eternally curious about the sneaker.
The shoe, however, was designed with the do-it-all Paul George in mind, and for a guy who pretty much covers 100% of the court at all times, a do-it-all sneaker like the Hyperdunk is a necessity: Full-length Lunar provides the cushion, Hyperfuse cuts out middle weight, and Dynamic Flywire keeps him locked down as he explodes off the Earth’s surface. The Nike Hyperdunk 2014 will make its official debut at retail on July 16th, so check out the “Bright Mango” launch colorway as well as some store nikeiD samplings below to get better acquainted at the next installment of this honored series.
