If you’ve ever been to the United Center in Chicago to catch a Bulls game, you’re surely familiar with the statue of Michael Jordan outside. Constructed during MJ’s first retirement in 1994, one of the noteworthy features of the statue is that he’s wearing an Air Jordan model that he never actually wore on court with the Bulls. That shoe in question is the Jordan 1 LowAluminum W, which was the model released while Michael was on the baseball diamond instead of the hardwood. Inspired by the statue, Jordan Brand has created a special edition of the Jordan 1 LowAluminum W Retro featuring the hue taken from the patina of the monument to his greatness. Take another look at the Jordan 1 LowAluminum W “Statue” today, and don’t forget that they’ll be hitting Jordan Brand retailers on August 22, 2015.
