Don C’s impressive touch with his sneaker collaborations with Nike and Jordan have led to some appealing releases over the last few years. His AF100 design of last November, a blend of the Air Force 1 and Air Force III, was certainly well-received, while his quilted take on the Air Jordan 2 Retro elevated the overall reputation of one of the more underwhelming Air Jordan models in history. It appears that the Chicago creative is getting his own silhouette with Jordan Brand called the Legacy 312, a new hybrid sneaker that combines key elements of the Air Jordan 1, Air Jordan 3, and Air Revolution.
The sole, heel, and elephant print mudguard is quite obviously from the Air Jordan 3, while the upper is predominately the DNA of the Air Jordan 1. The Air Revolution comes into play with the exposed lace eyelets and the mid-foot strap that was originally used on the ankle. The execution of the Legacy 312 harkens back to the days of the Jordan Force Fusion era, which saw the most storied Air Jordans get fused with the Air Force 1 to lukewarm reception. However, we’re in an era where hybrid models are embraced, but it truly comes down to a proper execution more than anything else (the aforementioned AF100 design, Sean Wotherspoon’s Air Max 1/97, etc.).
