Since being founded in Perugia, Italy 60 years ago, ellesse has grown to become one of the most highly-regarded names in classic Italian sportswear. Mixing a premium, refined aesthetic with an undeniably sporty style rooted in tennis and ski, they were toeing the line between subcultures before “subculture” was even a whisper on the lips of the fashion world’s lexicon. Now, with the beginning of their seventh decade in full swing, they’ve readied a duo of limited takes on the Piazza sneaker, dubbed the “Semi-Palla” pack.

Arriving in a white/red/orange and a black/white, each shoe tells a story in its own unique fashion. The light-colored pair uses its rousing accents to pay homage to both the clay courts its products were tested on (red) and the rising sun that’s visible from alpine slopes (yellow). The darker pair then opts to keep its inspiration a touch more straightforward, presenting a yin and yang of base tones that miss been a part of sport shoes since the brand’s inception. Both retail for $115 USD, and will release alongside a capsule collection of apparel through a carefully curated network of stockists, debuting at Concepts on the 21st before a full rollout on the 22nd. Enjoy a look at both pairs below, and stay tuned: ellesse has more limited releases on the way later this year as well.
