Michael Le Though two distinct, separate worlds, streetwear and culinary have come together often in the past few years. Alongside references to notable dishes and restaurateurs, many labels have gone on to serve up their own Homem menus. Maison Kitsune opened up their cafes across the world and even Aime Leon Dore pours up lattes next door to their retail space; but for Paperboy Paris, it seems food always came first. This hasn’t stopped them from making a name for themselves in apparel and collaboration, however, as their playful, recognizable logo hit is soon to go from BEAMS/Needles trackies to a New Balance Zapatillas 237V1 Higher.
Like their 801 released in conjunction with Foot Locker’s Greenhouse, the 992 is colorful and likely inspired by one of their many standout recipes. As seen from the one viewable angle, yellows are worked into the upper in seldom, clad atop the suede eye stay panels. Forward, from the toe cap to the side, a single layer grounds in a pale pink shade, slightly contrasting that of the white and grey fixtures winter out underneath. The “N” logos are similarly neutral, ostensibly outfitting with the reflective touch typically found on the silhouette.
