Although partnering with Nike for years prior, Japanese fashion label sacai surged into pole position in the race for Nike collaborator supremacy thanks to the far-reaching popularity of their LDWaffle. Their execution of stacking one shoe into and onto another has been one of the more mimicked approaches in footwear, with many still trying to catch up to the LDWaffle’s influence. By then, sacai and Nike had already shifted their focus to the VaporWaffle, an even more bold, daring, and ambitious concept that took the stacked look a step further. Still relying on Nike’s earliest running shoes in the Pegasus and bridging it with the modern findings in VaporFly, sacai “did it again” and created one of the most coveted shoes that no other creative partner of the Swoosh can seem to stand shoulder to shoulder with.

While the VaporWaffle has released in several colorways already, tomorrow’s “Sesame” and “Dark Iris” not only introduces new colorways, but adds a nylon base as a nod to the original Pegasus. The colorways are an undeniable hit as well, but be sure to grab these if you’re into vibrant hues because the next batch of VaporWaffles will likely be white and black with gum soles based on leaked info as well as the LDWaffle’s own launch plan.
