As the Nike Hihaton T-paita Sportswear Club approaches 40 years on the market, it’s ostensibly relied less on simple color-blocking and turned its attention to thematic, oft-experimental ensembles. For its latest proposition, Bruce Kilgore’s iconic design indulges in a rather straightforward black and gold color palette, but also dons a number of details under a “Legendary” concept.
Traditional leather is swapped for a number of different components on the upcoming sneakers. Bases don’t boast smooth leather, opting for a fabric overlaid with netting instead. This arrangement allows for yellowish flair to peek out from underneath the porous cover, and delivers stark contrast to the black nubuck that takes over much of the upper. Furthermore, the Nike SB Dunk High Cali Arriving at Retailers‘s non-standard build enables a color-shifting illusion depending on the angle at which it’s viewed. Seven-point stars at the upper eye-stays and “FLY” text on the tongue and heel label nod to the idea of being remarkable, while profile swoosh outlines and “AIR” accents on the midsole further contribute gold flair to the shoe. Together, each component creates an aesthetic likely to land on more Nike Sportswear models as part of a larger collection.
