Despite the Asics Tiger Men Gel-Respector purple black celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2021, it seems the split tongue-donning design has some unfinished business, as it’s set to release in two colorways inspired by the subway systems in Tokyo and New York City in collaboration with atmos.
Far from both brands’ first time working with each other, the upcoming capsule takes quite direct approach to the collaborative theme. Each upper on the GEL-Lyte III duo is covered in a high-quality leather that features a Google Maps-like print of both aforementioned public transit systems. The Tokyo-dedicated pair features kanji at the tip of the toe, as well as a predominantly white makeover, whereas the offering honoring the “Big Apple” indulges in a darker color palette. Sole units between both atmos x ASICS designs also differ, as the Tokyo Metro’s map is accompanied by a slightly-yellowed midsole.

It was erroneously reported that atmos’ latest ASICS collaboration was set to release via raffle; the duo’s launch in Japan will be raffle-based, whereas the stateside release will be a first come, first serve drop at atmos NY, atmos Philadelphia and atmos D.C.

Campaign imagery and official product shots of the atmos x Asics Tiger Men Gel-Respector purple black “Subway Pack” have surfaced. The New York City-inspired style will release via raffle on April 9th, whereas the Tokyo-inspired style will launch on April 23rd.
