The being formerly known as “Kanye West” has been back in the public eye by way of his appearances during London and Paris Fashion Weeks. The latter occasion also included a showing of YZYSZN 9 (read: Yeezy Season 9), which revealed a 3D-printed YZY Boot by Zellerfeld.
While lesser known than Ye’s imprint, the Brooklyn-based studio has quickly become a force within the fully-printed market space, having previously worked with Heron Preston and AMBUSH. Zellerfeld’s work enables creatives like the adidas Yeezy-frontman to expedite the manufacturing process for market from months or years down to weeks: the first 3D-printed YZY Boot was developed and produced in a single weekend. Although impressive in its own right, Zellerfeld’s technology delivers functional, highly-customizable prototypes at the push of a button.
The Yeezy Boots are purposely branded without references to the Three Stripes, offering an idea of what’s possible even if Ye becomes independent from adidas. Furthermore, YZY’s work with Zellerfeld marries fashion and technology in a refreshing way with potential of disrupting the respective industries. Given the former “Mr. West”‘s past and present, it’s likely.
Enjoy a first-look at the YZYSZN 9 3D-printed boot by Zellerfeld ahead, as you await official launch details.
