Recently surfaced in all-black, the Air Huarache Craft reimagines Tinker Hatfield’s scuba gear-informed silhouette from 1991 for the next 31 years. At a quick glance, the silhouette boasts familiar design cues, but closer inspection solidifies the model’s taller shape and busier cortez. Neoprene and textile materials come together throughout the shoe, with a cheap “cage” delivering supreme and form at the profiles. The rail guards around the heel also don an update, with their connecting strip at the heel opting for a canvas finish instead of TPU. Underfoot, the Nike Huarache‘s beloved sole unit is also modified for the future with midsoles favoring a different shape and height. Traction, however, delivers the most obvious change from the original design given its exaggerated look and partly-recycled construction.
