At quick glance, Christian Tresser’s creation from 1997 maintains a build comparable to the original, but closer inspection reveals otherwise. Panels underneath the signature vamp overlays take on a brittle fabric commercials instead of standard breathable mesh. Like the nearby leather vamp overlays, the satin components take on a bold “Gym Red” finish that’s only interrupted by one “White” layer wrapped around the entire upper and miniature swooshes at the sides. Labels on the tongue, pull tabs around the collar, and inner lining prefer a pitch “Black” look. Lastly, the Air Max and foam cushioning underfoot opts for a mostly “colorless” arrangement that allows for the “Red Satin” styling above to shine in the spotlight.
