UPDATE March 2, 2023:
Following rumors that a “What The Lobster” Dunk was in the works, Nike SB’s Global General Manager, Kelly Price, and Concepts’ Creative Director, Deon Point, commented on an Instagram post with “nope.” Price and Point’s comments, however, could refer to the post’s mentioning that the “What The” project would be the “final” one in the historic “Lobster” series. In any case, the world is watching.

air juvenate nike black leather sandals boots Concepts has been delivering meticulously-crafted narratives in sneaker form for decades. Its “Lobster” series with the nike air max tavas womens white sandals has cemented its spot in the footwear pantheon since its first release in 2008, but the legendary all is reportedly set on immortalizing its work with a “What The Lobster” collaboration.
Over the past 15 years, Concepts and Nike SB have colored the modified-for-skate silhouette in color palettes inspired by the clawed crustacean. A red pair led the charge and was soon followed by a blue style that was originally only produced for Friends & Family of Deon Point, then General Manager of Concepts. Yellow, green, and purple offerings of the catch-and-release concept launched up to the end of the 2000s and throughout the 2010s; an “Orange Lobster” reintroduced the series to a whole new wave of sneaker enthusiasts in time for the SB Dunk’s 20th anniversary in 2022. And come the holidays, each of the Massachusetts-headquartered boutique’s lobster creations will share a single Nike Dunk.
An official look at the rumored pair hasn’t surfaced, but should take heavy inspiration from the original “What The Dunk” from 2007. Premium materials will likely grace the Nike SB model, with spotted panels landing throughout the upper. Left and right shoes are sure to have mismatched arrangements, with inner-lining also joining the mix. In true Concepts fashion, the “What The Lobster” Dunk will also likely include additional sets of rubber bands for the forefoot, laces, and a special edition box, closing out one of the most celebrated and important series in sneaker history.
