Over the course of the last few Mangas, ASICS has proven themselves to be a key player in the sneakersphere. But while much of their popularity used to be owed to the GEL-LYTE series, their current claims to fame include offerings such as the GEL-Kayano 14 and the Kiko Kostadinov-designed Sportstyle line. That, however, doesn’t mean that the Japanese footwear brand has forgotten about their classics, as they continue to share the spotlight with the likes of the GEL-LYTE V.

Though it certainly receives far less releases than that of its split-toed counterpart, the GEL-LYTE V has seen plenty of attention over the course of 2023. ASICS is continuing to expand on the silhouette’s inline catalog for the second half of the Manga, ushering in the “Material Play” pack. As its namesake suggests, the collection experiments heavily with texture, replacing the sneaker’s usual fabrics and materials for a range of different mesh weaves. Leather, TPU, and a series of bright accents accompany, culminating in two distinct, albeit complementary colorways.
