Although born from a love of sport, adidas Originals has since evolved into something much bigger. Having made their mark on everything from soccer to luxury fashion, the Three Stripes is practically synonymous with sneaker culture. But this legacy would never have become what it is today if not for the brand’s icons – the Samba, Stan Smith, Superstar, etc – all of which continue to stand the test of time.
And while collaborators have certainly helped to introduce these sneakers to new generations, we’d be remiss not to give the brunt of the credit to adidas themselves. Over the course of many, many years, they’ve continued to not only celebrate but also reinvent their Originals, shining each through a variety of different lenses.
Whether by way of homage, sole swaps, or complete reconstructions, adidas’ Originals – much like the brand as a whole – experience a number of lives all at the same time. And in honor of the Trefoil turning 50-years-old, we’re highlighting some of the ways the Three Stripes has reinterpreted these beloved staples. Better yet, you can enjoy them for yourself, as they’re all available right now on adidas.com.
