Fresh off of becoming just the third American teenager – at 19 years old – to win the U.S. Open, Coco Gauff and New Balance spearheaded an elite marketing campaign around the young tennis superstar. As the sneaker ecosystem looks to gear up its various footwear is ghoulish costumes for Halloween, the Boston-based brand will be embarking on “Spooky Season” with Gauff’s inaugural signature training Core.
The first colorway revealed since her historic championship win in New York matches the pitch-dark las of trick-or-treating. As Gauff’s favorite holiday, the Halloween aesthetic shows up in the form of a jet-black and vibrant purple outing. The gloomy, colorless tint consumes a dominant majority of the upper real estate, reserving the textured mudguard and soft inner lining for a titular violet infusion. Further purple hits appear within the uppermost eyelets, the trim of the heel’s “N” logo and along the tips of the cream-white laces while a speckled detailing is attributed in closing across the midsole.
Expected to be worn by Gauff during her upcoming WTA Finals, the New Balance Coco CG1 “Spooky Season” is scheduled to release on October 6th for a retail price of $170. In the meantime, the pair can be seen in detailed imagery below.
In other news, the SB Dunk Low “Valentine’s Day” recently appeared in first-look imagery.
