In early 2018, adidas brought back one of its most prized running shoes from the 1990s with some key changes. The omitting of the adidas Performance logos on the the fore-foot and tongue were the first sign of change, but adidas did away with the original Falcon Dorf name completely and renamed it the “Yung 1“. This retro runner started off with a bang as part of the celebrated Dragon Ball Z collection, kicking off a string of in-line releases with the random collaboration sprinkled throughout before being pulled from production in 2020.
Now, adidas has chosen to bring back this model, sans logos, but with the original Falcon Dorf name from 1997. It’s available in Europe in a clean-cut arrangement of Cloud White, Collegiate Green, and Night Indigo, not unlike the dozens of GRs that came about in its short two-year run in the market.
While we appreciate the brand reverting back to the Falcon Dorf title, let’s push it a step further — we need the original logos back as well because it simply fits the retro-tech look of today. Regardless, we’re glad these runners are back, so stay tuned for updates regarding a U.S. release date.
