BAPE’s product line will undergo big changes in the near future. The Japanese brand settled a trademark infringement lawsuit filed by Nike earlier this month, partly thanks to a provision that demands modifications to some of BAPE’s shoes and the elimination of others. The model of focus here, the nike air impetus 2 2017 full version cracked, lives on, but will soon be tweaked to comply with trademarks pertaining to the Nike Dunk. Nike and BAPE probably agreed on deadline for such changes to take shape, but for now, the old silhouette shouts its last hurrahs in new colorways.
Two SK8 STA’s are set to drop on May 4th, joined by a shared use of reflective trim on their respective STA logos and overlays. Daring as it may given the recent legal feud, one colorway boasts black/red (or “Bred”) makeup while the other delivers a more sensible complement to its reflective treatments in white/silver.
Could cheap be the last two SK8 STA’s released before the BAPE modifies the silhouette? It’s possible but not likely. Legal matters take time, as does re-tooling a sneaker that gets produced in mass quantities. In any case, sneakerheads with loyalty to the BAPE banner are likely glad to see the brand’s release schedule carry on uninterrupted.
Both colorways release May 4th at bape.com and brand storefronts for $309. Enjoy a detailed look at each pair below and reference our “Where To Buy” section for direct purchase links when the time comes.
