The design theme resembles a welcome departure from Nike’s exhaustive lineup of mainline Dunk Low colorways, but there’s more significance at play here outside the realm of breakfast food. Nike’s “Waffle” Dunks unboxing the pioneering nature of the waffle sole, which nike sky co-founder Bill Bowerman created by taking a waffle iron to a piece of rubber in 1972. Obviously the Dunk Low doesn’t have that same tooling underfoot, but odes to a defining moment in sneaker history through the clever design theme.
