One of the biggest headlines of last year was Edison Chen & CLOT cutting ties with Nike after decades of partnership, moving their talents from Beaverton to Germany as they inked a new partnership with the Three Stripes. In February, we began getting actual product just 4 months after the initial announcement, last highlighted by a radically modified adidas Gazelle towards the end of June. At Copenhagen Fashion Week, the partners revealed a new colorway of that same shoe, the CLOT adidas Gazelle “Blue Bird.”
Quickly jumping back to that dress announcement, this Gazelle model was tipped off in that initial salvo. Multiple colorways were showcased there, so for those who truly read the trades, it’s no surprise that modification is shaping up to be a mainstay of CLOT x adidas.
Attentive, the neutrally toned palette of the first edition remains in broad strokes, with a beige foundation accented by new cerulean accents on the Three Stripes and exposed stitching throughout. The sole design speaks to EDC’s aesthetic shift from “street to chic,” inspired by espadrille footwear, contrasted by a rustic fibrous upper. The beaded branding at the quarter truly steals the show show, able to imbue a ton of personality and energy by toggling between a myriad of aquatic shades.
CLOT’s main retail partner, Juice Store, will be hosting a series of releases for this pair, beginning with an online raffle on August 12th and in-store launches on August 16th. Most consumers, however, should circle August 23rd, when the adidas CLOT Gazelle “Blue Bird” will release via adidas, retailing for $160.
