New Balance continues to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the 1500 silhouette with special releases. Following a grey anniversary colorway back in April, New Balance is sending the traditionally “Made In UK” model to Japan for a touch-up by the hands of its local artisan partners at M.Lab.
The upper features locally sourced nubuck and smooth leather, both of which are taken in the Boston brand’s hallmark light grey hue. Blue paneling adidas around the forefoot and quarter, while soft yellow stitching is utilized on all the branded elements. In adding uniqueness without over-disrupting the aesthetic that made the 1500 famous, New Balance touches down with a smaller “N” logo and larger “1500” text than usual, both of which are taken in the pale yellow accent shade.
