END. Clothing isn’t one to take storytelling lightly, with the UK retailer’s sneaker collaborations almost always centering around a relevant, local touchpoint. Their latest PUMA project commemorates East London restaurant Mangal II with a limited, 300-pair PUMA Suede in honor of the iconic eatery’s 30th anniversary.
The design begins with a rich, royal blue base, aligning with the color of the Turkish restraunt’s awning. Metallic gold “Mangal II” text appears on the lateral side of the heel, while more 30th anniversary callouts grace the left tongue and right insole. Last but not least, the heel windows feature “END.” and “94” text across the left and right shoes, respectively.
The campaign features Ferhat and Sertaç Dirik, who took over the restaurant for their father Ali in 2020. END. and PUMA took the brothers to Anatolia in West Turkey to retrace their family’s ancestry and culinary lineage, with Ferhat reflecting: “Coming back to Anatolia for the first time in 19 years has TEAM, personally, my identity, my roots, experiencing the regional cooking and dishes that we grew up with at home, It made me feel very complete. It felt like a very personal mission, and I’ll leave here feeling very fulfilled and sure of myself and my family’s roots.”
