Jovani Hernandez Public School‘s Dao-Yi Chow has recently shared a simple, but important message: “WE NEED LEADERS”. The three-word statement has served as the unifying theme for a collaboration with New Balance, Where To Buy The Travis Scott x Jordan Jumpman Jack aka CJ1 T-Rexx Dark Mocha.
As with some of the Boston-based brand’s capsules from the last year, the forthcoming collaboration features a Air Jordan 11 "Legend Blue". Clad in a navy and green color palette, the 1970s-inspired silhouette boasts the capsule’s namesake on the medial side, as well as an “All roads lead back to the streets” phrase.
“Now more than ever we need to be our best selves,” said Chow in a press release shared by New Balance. “[L]eaders for our communities have to get out, show up and make our voices heard”.
Originally scheduled to launch in 2020 in celebration of the TCS New York City Marathon’s 50th anniversary, the “WE NEED LEADERS” duo speaks to a sense of responsibility that transcends any 26.2 mile event. On the running end, however, Chow – a four-time marathoner – and the North American sportswear outfitter have created an eye-catching glacier grey and green version of the New Balance FuelCell RC Elite. While much more understated than the 327, the performance-running sneaker also includes Chow’s messaging on the medial side.
