Remembered for its aggressive design and the camouflage-style pattern on the midsole, 1993’s Air Carnivore undergoes a swift transformation of simplified elegance at the hands of Comme des Garçons Homme Plus. The long-time collaborator of Nike has frequently relied on toning down to their signature look; widely praised and occasionally criticized for their reliance on restraint, Comme des Garçons Homme Plus delivers a much-needed clean-cut interpretation of the turf trainer – one that was first revealed during their SS21 show themed ‘Metal Outlaw’.
Both Carnivores rely on the traditional leather, mesh, and neoprene build, applying the full monochromatic look down to the woven buckles on the lateral side. The entire overlay itself, from the strapped section to the ankle, is fully reflective as well. Finally, the collaboration is given its final stamp on the heel via the Comme des Garçons Homme Plus branding.
Both colorways are confirmed to release on May 1st at Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market locations (except Japan) no May 1st for $330. Select retailer partners will release at a later date.
