Historically, the New Balance 550 has resorted to two-tone colorways rooted in basketball heritage. Since returning to the limelight in 2020, the Steven Smith-designed model has taken on much more fashion-forward styles.
Recently, the Aime Leon Dore-approved design from 1989 emerged in a women’s-exclusive “Sea Salt/Macadamia Nut/White” ensemble that’s perfect for the tail-end of summer. Much of the sneaker indulges in a standard “colorless” leather construction, with premium pig suede entering the mix across overlays around the forefoot and heel. Branding throughout New Balance’s retro keep things simple, with the biggest “contrast” to the overwhelmingly clean outfit arriving via the stability structure around the heel and the made-for-the-hardwood outsole underfoot.
Enjoy official images of the pair ahead, as you wait to try your luck via NewBalance.com tomorrow, August 16th, for $110 USD.
