Few moments on the hardwood are as iconic as Michael Jordan’s free throw line throw-down in the ’88 Dunk Contest. As such, Jordan Brand has taken strict care in educating the next generation on #23’s greatness, from explaining the color combination employed onto the “Bred” Jordan 1 Mid to honoring his game-winning shot in the 1982 NCAA Championship with a simultaneous mid-top construction.
Now, the Beaverton-based brand is taking a trip down memory lane and setting up shop on that historic February night, utilizing the famed wide-shot of his dunk from the stripe as the inspirational outfit for its latest Air Jordan 1 Low Arctic Orange Black Mid.
Exploring tumbled leathers at its mudguard and quarter, the latter overlays proffer a titular Chicago red inclusion before employing a neutral-toned palette throughout. Cream-colored leathers fill the vamp and back half of the silhouette, accented by a littered array of raised laser-etched motifs. Save its collar panel, which returns to the cracked leather build, the laces, sock liner and midfoot Swooshes proffer jet-black contrasts amidst the relatively bright proposition. Anchored by a tried-and-true white/black sole unit pairing, specially-crafted insignias – such as the 3:51 embossing at the heel and inner tongue which nods to the exact time on the background clock in the photo – sketched insoles and disparately colored winged logos lay claim in concluding fashion to the pair’s design elements.
Alongside a blank white box that allows the youth to color in their own design of the pair, enjoy official images of the grade school exclusive Air Jordan 1 Low Arctic Orange Black Mid “Dunk Contest while we sit tight on further release details expected to be made available within the coming weeks.
