Anthony Edwards Shoes: New Balance athlete Zach Lavine had a heavy hand in developing the upcoming Fresh Foam BB v2, working closely with the basketball design team to produce an upgraded shoe that truly stands out. The pair is set to debut in a “Moonbeam” colorway, inspired by Lavine’s off-court fashion aesthetics, soon followed by a variety of classic and modern treatments.
In Lavine’s words: “This is my favorite performance shoe, hands down, and I am proud of the work I did with the design team. This is the only shoe I want to wear when I get back out on the court. We also have some fire PE’s coming this season that I can’t wait to showcase.” (Complete with tweaks for durability and comfort)
The New Balance Fresh Foam BB saw its initial release at the start of 2023, but was quickly pulled off shelves after a brief trial revealed quality control issues on the eyelets and sole. While the shoe resurfaced a few months later with improved tooling to remedy the problem, New Balance now looks to start fresh with the debut of the Fresh Foam BB v2.
The shape of the BB v2 remains relatively consistent on the new iteration, with key differences being the removal of the top eyelet and a more robust sole to prevent more QC issues. Suede overlays make their way onto the upcoming pair, replacing the TPU material seen on its predecessor, while an oversized N logo offers a more imposing focal point. The new midsole down below adopts a topographic style pattern, extending down into the outsole to complete the shoe.
