The slate of Kobe releases for next year is already heating up months ahead of time. The Nike MAX Kobe 6 Protro “All-Star 2.0” is set to release next Spring, carrying an earthy blend of that could be referencing the one and only time the man who NBA named the All-Star Game after sat on the bench.
The Mamba missed the 2014 All-Star Game, rocking a tan & white suit while sidelined from the exhibition, still recovering from the devastating Achilles injury that cut his 2012-13 season short. That earthy outfit would be a perfect match for the “Light Khaki,” “Desert” and “Sail” tones confirmed here. Though the injury wasn’t far from the finest on-court moment for the late Hall of Famer, as a style moment it dovetails perfectly into this colorway.
More generally speaking, this edition speaks to a possible overarching theme for recently announced Protro releases. Deriving inspiration from off-the-court moments began with the Kobe 4 “Girl Dad,” adorned in the same shade as Kobe’s Eagles headwear in shots of him & Gigi courtside. The Kobe 5 “University Red” that we covered just yesterday added another piece of the puzzle for this potential motif, only strengthened by news of the “All-Star 2.0” pair featured here.
Regardless of where the creative inspo stems from for this version, it’ll be a hotly anticipated one the same way all recent Kobe shoes have been. A tentative Spring 2025 date is expected, but keep this page handy as that information is sure to crystallize as we approach the release. A speculative mockup is included below via @zsneakerheadz and Sneaker Files, but it is not considered representative of what the final product will look like.
Elsewhere on the signature basketball shoes front, here’s everything you need to know about the Nike MAX KD 17, releasing May 17th.
