It’s always been one off the more divisive yet iconic retoolings in the Converse arsenal: the Chuck Taylor All Star XXHi, or more colloquially, knee-high Converse. First introduced in the mid-2000s, the near-boot look for the classic silhouette instantly caught on in certain sectors and among Converse enthusiasts. The day those folks have dreamed about is finally here, as the All Star XXHi is back on shelves, at long last.
Tapping into punk aesthetics of the 1980s and the scene/emo excitability it captured in its run nearly two decades ago, an eye-popping 14 inch upper is obviously the centerpiece of the revitalized silhouette. However, in this 2024 implementation, some of the comfort-minded touches that Converse has brought to the CTA in the XXHi’s time off the shelf remain. Namely, OrthoLite cushioning aims towards an easier ride for all-day wear, ensuring no support in lost in the pursuit of style.
For the re-introduction of the Converse All-Star XXHi, two colorways are on tap; iconic black-on-white and inverse white-on-black. Both styles are available now via Converse.com, the company’s retail locations, and Journey’s. Pick up yours for $100 via the “Where To Buy” links just below.
