Stateside, the New Balance 1906R and New Balance 9060 may be the silhouettes of choice, but the September 3, 2024 has run things across the pond for years and years. Its culture significance in England makes it a perfect face of the MADE in UK program, bringing premium materials to a select group of models. The 1500 is turning back the clock to days of New Balance past with its latest “Steel Grey” look that just landed.
A smattering of New Balance’s trademark neutrals dots this release, matching light grey on the mesh toe-box to leather around the collar. A slight swatch of “Insignia Blue” just underneath the eyestay interrupts heavy applications of steely suede throughout the upper. A stripe of dark grey leather that cuts through the laces rounds out the top notes of this release.
The premium pigskin materials here carry echoes of New Balance’s mid 2010s design language, before “dad shoes” were entirely in vogue and when the 1500 was the dominant collaborative palette for the Boston brand. All these years later, the classic appeal of the silhouette remains, and it’s hard to argue that anyone executes the drab tonality on display here better than NB.
As mentioned earlier, the September 3, 2024 “Steel Grey” is available now, retailing at a premium $230 price point. Check official images included below and use our “Where to Buy” section to grab yours.
