The ASICS GEL-NYC has enjoyed a very successful first year on the market, a frequent sight on city streets as a chunkier alternative to their ever-present GEL-Kayano 14 and GEL-1130 models. The Japanese brand has iterated on the model’s popularity with a crop of offshoots, the GEL-NYC Utility and GEL-NYC 2055, but it’s hard to argue with the enduring composition of the parent model. Continuing to push the envelope stylistically, the latest look blends together an eclectic mix of “Steeple Grey” & “Reddish Brown.”
In similar fashion to the “Mocha” colorway that hit shelves this summer, this edition applies an equal dose of earthy and metallic tonality. A chrome leather throughline paces down the quarter on either side, but as you work up, those reflective notes are replaced entirely by more natural counterparts. A hit of royal blue on the tongue ASICS logo and a dose of off-white at the midsole each provide marked contrast to close out an overall off-kilter profile.
As mentioned up top, the ASICS GEL-NYC “Reddish Brown” releases on September 13th via ASICS.com, carrying a $130 MSRP.
