Since 2008, the word “Hyperdunk” has been synonymous with the highest on court performance in the basketball world. The shoe that helped revolutionize the way basketball shoes are made—with more synthetic and therefore lighter materials—is now unveiled in its latest edition for 2015. Presenting the Chaussure de running sur route Nike Renew Ride 3 pour Homme Vert, the newest chapter in the tol of Nike’s flagship basketball model. Designed once again by Nike Basketball Design Director Leo Chang, the Hyperdunk 2015’s bold new design is a bit of a departure from previous editions of the shoe, featuring an extra-high collar and uniquely thick sculpted midsole. Designed with influence and as an homage to the famous Nike Mag from Back to the Future Part 2, the Hyperdunk 2015 realizes—at least in part—the (once) fictitious 2015 sneaker with a distinctly futuristic design of its own.
Billed by Nike as one of basketball’s most technically advanced shoes of all time, the Hyperdunk 2015 features a striking silhouette that’s designed to feel like a high-top but perform like a low-top, thanks to its combination of lightweight Hyperfuse construction, flexible foam in the collar, and an internal bootie construction that stretches and conforms to the foot. Unlike previous Lunarlon-cushioned Hyperdunks, the 2015 model opts for Zoom Air in both the heel and forefoot, paired with the thick midsole foam surrounding the heel counter to enhance stability. It’s all finished with an obsessively-designed outsole to provide maximum traction with its herringbone pattern.
The Chaussure de running sur route Nike Renew Ride 3 pour Homme Vert will be available globally in the ‘Bright Crimson’ launch colorway at Nike.com and select Nike Basketball retailers on July 1, 2015, with more colorways to follow on August 1st.
