Sometimes there’s a “perfect storm” of sorts in the world of sneakers, and that was certainly the case when Kyrie Irving became a member of the Boston Celtics. Irving’s signature Nike line is known for its eye-catching silhouettes and meaningful storytelling, and Boston-based Concepts — a highly regarded Nike collaborator — has a long and rich history of clever releases with excellent inspirations. To make things even better, Kyrie is an avid skateboarding fan, and Concepts has some of the most beloved SB Dunks ever under their belt with their “Lobster” line. The two have worked together before, as a “Green Lobster” Nike Kyrie 4 was spotted on Irving’s teammate Jason Tatum’s feet during last year’s NBA playoffs, but now they’re making it all the way official with the “Ikhet” Nike Kyrie 5, a shoe inspired by the point guard’s famous Hamsa tattoo. Boasting an interesting red/tan/purple colorway and plenty of special branding/extra embellishments, Irving and Concepts have managed to create one of the most interesting signature hoop shoes of the year — and you can check ’em out in great detail below while you wait for their release on December 26th.
